Went to the party Saturday, they changed it again and anyone could enter. What a hassle.
Saturday I took my bike to the shop to get a new tube installed after an earlier botched attempt to patch it with the help of Hailey's roommate. Apparently patches don't really work on skinny tires like I've got. Oh well, it only cost me 8 bucks anyway. While I was at the shop I got some new bar tape to replace the crappy old foam handlebar grips. I'm not sure how old the foam was, but it was all dried out and turning to dust, and would get a gritty black mess all over my hands every time I would ride my bike anywhere. I wrapped the handlebars Sunday afternoon; it didn't take very long, was actually fairly easy and the final product feels great - nice and soft and cushy on the hands. Plus the nice soft and cushy feeling of a job well done. The brakes are a little messy, they don't have a housing or anything to make the tape look all nice and solid in the middle, and I couldn't get the wires to go under the wrap, so they're still flying free - I think they're too stiff to be wrapped, but maybe I was just doing it wrong. Never rule that out.
Picked up my new glasses Sunday night, wore them all day yesterday, they look good and are fairly comfortable despite not being adjusted by any professionals yet (I need to go back home for that). The legs don't curve around my ears as much as I'm used to, but that's probably not going to be something that gets fixed when I get them adjusted. I'm just going to have to get used to the sensation of constantly feeling like they're about to fall off. I'd take pictures, but I'm feeling pizza-facey today.
BITCHING ABOUT HOUSE-RELATED STUFF:
The A/C is still broken, I don't know if I've mentioned it here or not, but it's been one thing or another for the last month. First the duct behind the intake panel thing froze over for a few days - like, a solid peice of ice blocking the entire duct while the rest of the house was 85 degrees. So we got a guy to come and fix that. Now it won't turn off and it isn't blowing cool air. It's a lot cooler outside lately (finally), so I'm worried a lot more about the former than the latter since it's no doubt running our electricity bill through the roof.
Also, the internet keeps going out -maybe four or five times an hour when it's really bad. Called Comcast today, the lady checked it remotely and said it looks like we've got a weak signal, so they're sending a technician out sometime Thursday morning. Hopefully we don't need a new modem or anything, I don't know about the other guys, but I don't have the money for a replacement. Speaking of which, I need to go pick up my check, hopefully I've still got a job after not showing up for work on Sunday...
