Another year. Nice. '08 wasn't too shabby, but I am glad to see it go. Didn't help that new years was totally boring and depressing this time around. Way to leave a bad taste in my mouth, MMVIII.
Lately I've just been plodding away at work and killing time at home until school gets back in. I feel like I've been slacking off my blogging here but nothing that interesting has really happened. Or at least nothing I'd want to write about here. =/
Haven't really been in much of a blogging mood lately... here's a cameraphone dump ranging back from late October.
Dan and his roommates got in a fight over rent today so he moved his stuff out a few days early, spent most of the day helping with that. Done with two classes now; cleaned out my stuff in the silkscreen lab. Dan's friend Jim came down and then lots of running around between school and the warehouse and Dan and me and Kristen's places. Coffee and cigarettes at Emmy's. Kind of a long day, went by in a blur, though.
Came home and Mitch told me that Rich, my favorite manager from back at the Bistro, had a heart attack and had died in his sleep today. One of the most genuinely nice people I've ever met. *sigh*
Sat down and thought of this song, I'd been listening to it at home over the break. Feeling weird, lots of things ending and nearing ends today.
Fire and smores at Dan's house tonight with Emmy and Kristen. It was nice. Dan leaves town this week and Russ is gone for the next two. Gonna be some boring times coming up.
Thanksgiving was alright, mostly just reminded me how I probably won't mind missing Christmas if I can possibly get a fucking job soon. Family is nice, but holidays are a pain in the ass.
things are kinda looking up lately...
job interview Friday
finally fucking got started on my painting project
got a lot of work done on my new website layout tonight
THE ELECTION IS FINALLY OVER THANK YOU GOD
anyway, back to work, i gotta get some more work done on my painting before tomorrow
Man, what a great weekend. Too much happened to really recount here, but the short of it is Jon, Chance, and Garrett came over, we all saw Man Man and had a blast.
Not a great day at school today, but the afterglow from the all non-stop fun held me over.
Stupid things I'm worrying about:
paying the cable bill
homework
girls
getting enough sleep
Forced myself to wake up 'early' yesterday (more like, 11am) and the get oil changed in my car. Went to school till 8-ish, came home and passed out around 9. Woke up about 6:30 to a beautiful, clear 48F morning.
Things eaten yesterday:
- half a poptart
- some beef jerky
- Arizona RX Energy drink
- a Butterfinger candybar
I think I'm gonna grab a bowl of cereal and watch an episode or two of Twin Peaks.
Where has Chris been? Short answer: school. Long answer: lots of school. Also, I just haven't felt like writing anything in a while, and nothing exciting's really happened anyway.
One nice thing today was a $100 shopping spree at the art store when my teacher let me go spend my lab fees for the two classes I have with her. In a lot of classes you never see those fees really spent on anything at all, and in the rest the teachers use them for communal supplies, so it was nice to spend my money on things for myself. I've done it once before, but it was only $25 then, so it was actually pretty daunting today, especially trying to spend the whole hundo at once. I got some brushes and some small odds and ends but I spent most of the money on silkscreen supplies and paper. Dan and I are planning on setting up a mini silkscreen lab at the warehouse, since Dan's already got a table and clamps in there, and the BFA director told us she'd try to get the school to pay for the materials to build an exposure unit. Probably going to check out some plans and go price that stuff sometime over the weekend.
Tomorrow's First Friday and Dan and I are planning on getting our hair cut at the warehouse as a faux-performance art piece. Mostly we're just in it for the free hair cuts our friend is giving us. Should be a little weird, a little funny.
Also, I'm going to try to lay off smoking for a week. It was nice at first when it was just a casual, social thing, but these last couple weeks of school have been way too stressful and lately I've been up to like 4 or 5 a day. Not too bad compared to some folks, but its enough to make me decide to take a little break.
And now, as I go off to sleep, the song I woke up with in my head:
Things I need to do:
go to home depot for drawing stuff
get an enlargement made for painting
work on silkscreen project
work on drawing project
work on painting project
Time I woke up:
4:30pm
What a busy week. Lots of schoolwork, lots of homework, and even some non-school related work. Didn't go to my job at all, though.
My BMSR album came in this week, the cover is scratch n sniff and it smells like tomato soup.
