Well, I'm officially making pizzas at Funstation now. Exactly like working concessions at AMC, which blew dick. We'll see how long I hold out before I'm absolutely tired of it. I'm already pretty close after just a four hour shift today. Hopefully the whole money thing will soften the pain come payday.
One nice thing though: its easy as shit. Three days in and I'll be closing by myself. Okay, sure.
On a different note, I recently looked back on all the art I did this year... I feel like I worked my ass off, but I'd probably disown 90% of the stuff I made. What the heck. Kind of put me in a mood.
Jon and his girl Dareen passed through town yesterday and today; went to the Ale House and Momo's and out for coffee, now I don't have any grocery money. Again. Totally worth it though, I've been so bored this last week.
Haven't really been in much of a blogging mood lately... here's a cameraphone dump ranging back from late October.
Dan and his roommates got in a fight over rent today so he moved his stuff out a few days early, spent most of the day helping with that. Done with two classes now; cleaned out my stuff in the silkscreen lab. Dan's friend Jim came down and then lots of running around between school and the warehouse and Dan and me and Kristen's places. Coffee and cigarettes at Emmy's. Kind of a long day, went by in a blur, though.
Came home and Mitch told me that Rich, my favorite manager from back at the Bistro, had a heart attack and had died in his sleep today. One of the most genuinely nice people I've ever met. *sigh*
Sat down and thought of this song, I'd been listening to it at home over the break. Feeling weird, lots of things ending and nearing ends today.
Today was just what I needed, went on a roadtrip with friends, swam in the ocean and saw a show.
Jon and Garrett brought Chance along Wednesday night, and everything was shaping up to be a lot of fun, but then I ended up getting really sick Thursday morning at school, came home and basically slept all day until the show that night. The Sword was bad ass, though, and thankfully I ended up feeling a lot better and Jon got me a killer T-shirt as a birthday present. It was good to go to a metal show again.
Jon and the fellas left, I worked all day today, Russ and I got some supper, and then I was just kicking some Sim City for a while. Then I walk out my door and there's a full blown party going on in the backyard. Apparently Joe was throwing a big Memorial Weekend/Farewell party kind of thing? Turned out to be a pretty good time, even though I didn't really know half the people who showed up.
Gonna get some sleep now, and go to Crestview tomorrow for my birthday and take advantage of the three-day weekend. Boy it's late.
Other things:
I saw a car crash while I was sick at school, psyched me out
my manager at work was let go today
god damn this shirt is awesome
A lot of video games in my life right now, what's up with that? I beat Assassin's Creed yesterday, I just downloaded Sim City 4 to kill some time, and now Joe got me the Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection as an early birthday present. Plus I'm still playing FFVI on the side. Where am I going to find the time??
Jon and Garrett are coming down tonight for the Sword show, and then after that I'm probably going home for the weekend for my birthday.
Another early birthday present: I found a CD with a backup of my art from late 2004...! oh god, it's so horrible, but I'm so glad to see it all back. Now I'm only missing maybe two years worth of art, and it was all kind of intermediate stuff where I was actually getting good at art, so I don't miss it like I missed my old naive kid stuff. I'm still missing those photos, though. ;___;
Saw Man Man last night at Sluggo's in Pensacola with Jon and Chance. Met up with Dan, Kristen, and Hailey there. Not a great trip, but I'm glad I went, though I'm probably never going back. Maybe the sleaziest place I've ever been to see a show, I swear Pensacola has no class. Damn show started two hours late, too, didn't get home till 3:00. Assholes. The show itself was actually pretty good, save for the first opening band - none of them could sing and one of them couldn't even play a tambourine. But apparently they were from Niceville and Destin, so you have to cut em some slack, y'know?
Highlights of the night:
- Jon and Chance's pizza party in the backseat (Little Caesar's is back in town?)
- sightseeing the Circle K where Jon saw a drive-by last year
- Jon buying a ticket to hell thanks to a "slow handicapped children" sign
- someone backed into the side of a Volvo and just drove off
- Dan's friends drinking
40s32s - "hey I got something for ya, it's got your name on it... is your name Old English?" - future sex offender creeping out the ladies in the crowd
Spring Break has been nice, if not mostly uneventful. Dad gave me that lecture I was bracing for within half an hour of getting home. Had lunch with Aunt Sandy and Mama over the weekend. Hung out at Matt's apartment with Russ and Jon. Jon got the new Smash Brothers game. More lunch with Aunt Sandy. New haircut. Blah blah blah I am lame.
