Why is BBC News so fixated on cloaking technology? I use the little RSS feed they pack in the Firefox install to keep tabs on headlines, and I've noticed a bit of a pattern. You'll know its a slow news day when they've got an article mentioning "meta-materials" development or technology paving the way for an "invisibility cloak". Also, 'trick' headlines for dumb stories about things like funny animals are a dead giveaway they're scraping for stories.
Planning on seeing Tropic Thunder today, mostly just because all my friends are going (I'd rather go see Pineapple Express, but everybody's already seen it), then going back to Crestview tomorrow morning. I was toying with the idea of going home tonight, but I think I might be able to get my sleep back to a normal schedule if I stay here - I figure if I can just hold out going to sleep until after the movie, I'll be able to wake up at a decent hour tomorrow morning and reset my sleep pattern. Here's hoping. Yesterday I held out until noon and then slept till 9pm, so I figure I can make it to 6 or 7 this afternoon.
UPDATE: Made it to 5pm, slept until midnight. What?
I slept till about 5pm yesterday so I am currently pulling an all-nighter to try and even things back out. Actually, I know for a fact that never works, but I am too afraid to go to sleep and possibly (probably) miss class again. So I soldier on. I'll sleep after class. I'll waste this last half hour or so before class with a little bit of blogging, I guess.
Renewed my hosting for my .com today, I was worried for a while that I wouldn't be able to afford it. But I've actually been making a small bit of spare change with the new job (it already feels like I've been working forever, though). It's slow going saving up money, but it's not impossible. Anyway, if anyone missed the site while it was down for a couple hours today, have no fear, it's back now.
I really want to put a zine together in time for First Friday in September... I'm already assembling contributors (friends) and I bought an extra-long stapler, so I feel like I'm half-way there already. Only two other parts I'm worried about: getting everyone (myself included) to finish on time, and putting the damn thing together. Still not sure how I'm gonna print it... I don't know if I want color or not. I guess it doesn't matter, I can just sneak it onto the printer at school.
Jon - sorry I didn't get back on AIM last night, I was too busy screaming at skate. for most of the evening, then got trapped in a checkout line at Wal-mart for nearly half an hour. =/ Hit me up sometime today.
Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I actually did make one recently, but it was really self-absorbed, boring, tl;dr stuff and I ended up making it private just so I wouldn't have to straight up delete it and have completely wasted my time. Basically, I was sick(ish) all last week, went to school and work a couple times, and sat around on my butt a lot, staying up so late most nights that the days started running together. Things have been kind of picking up again recently, though, so that's nice. Been drawing. Got a haircut. Yesterday I drew on a wall at school, and Dan and I helped Kristen and Hailey move into their new place and pushed an armoire up the stairs.
The other day I was giving Kristen a ride home from the warehouse and she was talking about music and then asked me if I'd heard anything new that I'd liked recently and I was like........... no... So now I'm kind of on a music binge to make up for lost time. A couple I've been meaning to get, a couple I'm just trying out.
Recent acquisitions:
Tettix - Maladies
Grizzly Bear - Yellow House
Talking Heads - 77
UNKLE - Psyence Fiction
The Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Weezer - Pinkerton
Well, I've definitely stayed up too late tonight, so I'll cut this short here.
ugh. Last night I stayed up late working on a project for that god-forsaken experimental drawing class, then after school I made a conscious effort to stay up and went out with Dan and Russ to go Goodwill hopping just for something to do. A little later, Russ gets a call from Jon, who had got a call from Mom, who had got a call from my uncle, who had got a call from my manager, saying I was scheduled to work today, where the hell am I? Apparently I had set my phone to 'silent' instead of 'vibrate' at school today and no one could get in touch with me. I could have sworn I didn't have to work today...
Anyway I drive us all back home, change clothes and go to work - no sleep, no supper. The night auditor shows up late (again) and I'm stuck there till 11:30. And for some reason I have work at 1:00 tomorrow instead of the usual 3:00, so I can't sleep in. Awesome, good thing I decided to stay up past 1AM despite being tired as all hell.
Man what a shitty waste of a day. I stayed up all night doing bullshit then I slept past my morning class. Then I continued to waste my life away well into the afternoon. I've got a BFA meeting to go to and put some work up for First Friday in about thirty minutes, so that'll be something to do, and I need to get a CD cover ready to go before the guys show tomorrow. Then maybe I can get really plastered somehow or suffer some sort of head injury and pass out around 11 or 12 like a normal person might.
Up late again.
Mike Patton and a drumset so big you could live in it:
Having a hard time sleeping lately, mostly thanks to school and pulling two all-nighters in the last week. Hopefully after this week, I'll be back to normal what with the new job and being out of school for a while. Or hell, if it gets really bad, maybe I'll volunteer for some night audit shifts and get paid for being up so late.
So yeah, it's 6:30 in the morning. What's that mean? Yep, you guessed it, I'm trolling youtube for awesome music videos. Or, well, that's what I've been doing. Now I'm going to bed.
NOTE TO SELF: YOUR LIBRARY BOOK IS OVERDUE, IDIOT
Got kind of lazy, didn't really do a whole lot today. The biggest development was going to Goodwill early in the afternoon. Picked up a rad yamaha tg33 synth for 30 bucks. Damn, I was gonna post more then got distracted on AIM. now its 4am. never mind.
Well it's pretty much go time over here for the BFA thing tommorow... gonna try to wake up early and go with a friend who's also applying so we can get spots next to each other, and in a good location (gotta beat the crowd). Then I'll have to run over to the copy shop and get a couple posters printed out that I forgot about today... really hope I wake up on time.
I wanted to get another little circuit bending project done in time for the entrance, I ended up with a jerry-rigged little thing that I didn't really even do anything to. It was originally a little toy harmonica thing, I took it apart and found that if you just mash the area the buttons touch with your fingers it'll freak out from the inaccurate body contacts (or something like that) and then you can manipulate it a little further with a knob that was originally built in to control the tempo of the sound clips. It does sound cool, though, and I hooked up a 1/4" jack to it so I can record some stuff later, but I am a little disappointed that it's not any more impressive than it is. I relocated it into a new, bigger casing and its all melted holes and rubber bands right now, kind of pathetic. But I figure having a couple bent toys might help me stand out from the crowd a bit? I don't know anyone else doing it at school.
Saw Spoon tonight, they had a good show but their two boring-ass-one-man-and-a-guitar opening acts can bite me.
Also, while running errands and picking up art supplies today I realized that I am really really close to being completely broke - moreso than I thought, that is. My bank account has kind of gone from bad to worse in this last week. Which sucks since I've got to pay the cable bill soon. But we get paid early this week because of the holiday Monday, so hopefully I'll have enough on my check to cover me for the next week at least - my last check was a total joke. Maybe after this BFA thing I'll see about picking up extra hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school. I'm not 100% worried, I've got a good deal of savings hid away as backup, but I'd really rather not have to use them. We'll see.
Anyways, off to bed after I finish a drawing here...
Some late-night happenings:
Jeffrey Rowland has a funny story to tell.

Chromeo - "Rage!"
this song is really awesome right now (4am), we'll see how it goes in the morning. Also, these guys are on five different labels?
