Well, I'm officially making pizzas at Funstation now. Exactly like working concessions at AMC, which blew dick. We'll see how long I hold out before I'm absolutely tired of it. I'm already pretty close after just a four hour shift today. Hopefully the whole money thing will soften the pain come payday.
One nice thing though: its easy as shit. Three days in and I'll be closing by myself. Okay, sure.
On a different note, I recently looked back on all the art I did this year... I feel like I worked my ass off, but I'd probably disown 90% of the stuff I made. What the heck. Kind of put me in a mood.
Jon and his girl Dareen passed through town yesterday and today; went to the Ale House and Momo's and out for coffee, now I don't have any grocery money. Again. Totally worth it though, I've been so bored this last week.
Boy, work was shitty today. The damn tropical storm had the automatic doors all confused and first they broke and wouldn't open, then once we fixed them, they wouldn't stay closed. So all night the damn storm was just blowing into the lobby, throwing papers around and getting everything all wet. Thankfully I got off early, went and hung out with Dan and Kristen and Hailey for a while.
Also, I'm trying not to think too much about it, but Joe said that while the power was out for a bit here at the house due to the storm, he caught two guys fucking around with the front door. He went up to the window with his telescoping nightstick and scared em off, but what the fuck?? Definitely arming the alarm every time I leave the house now, and I'm contemplating putting the webcam back up in the hallway as a secondary measure. Hopefully it was just a one-time thing due to the power outage or something, and they won't be back, but I'm definitely gonna get all paranoid about being robbed for a while again.
I really, really, really don't want to go to work today. I did not get a solid night's sleep at all, which I blame on the time change coming back from Crestview and the fresh install of Empire Earth II on my computer.
Also, it looks like the tropical storm going over Florida is coming back for a second pass and is set to go straight down the panhandle. I'm not that worried about it, but I guess people are making a big deal about it cause it's the first big storm in a while. It's not even that big! weather.com forecast for Saturday: Showers, maybe a rumble of thunder. Yeah, I'm not gonna sweat that.
I got an email yesterday about a new personal webspace system they started at FSU, so I went and set mine up. I think it's pretty okay. (click)
For whatever reasons, my room seems to have a big fat noisy fly in it every couple days, usually doing wide circles around my room or buzzing against the window over and over. I got tired of chasing them down with a flip-flop and having messy yellow bug guts everywhere, so I've developed a new technique to eliminate the little bastards. I track the fly for a minute until it stops and takes a rest somewhere in my room, then snipe it with a rubberband from about a foot or so away. Flies can't out-run the projectile like they can my flip-flop, and instead of being crushed and shooting nasty goop out everywhere they just drop dead, or, if I haven't put enough power behind the rubberband launch, they actually just lay there stunned. I could probably start a pretty killer collection if I kept up with the bodies.
The GM at work was let go this week, I just found out today. Kind of a bummer, he was a friend of Uncle Kane's that helped get me the job, and I had been planning on thanking him for the favor when I left (I'd been planning on looking for a new job soon to get out from under him so my family couldn't keep tabs on me at work anymore, but now that doesn't seem like an issue). He was one of the better GMs I've worked under, he was very personable and he seemed like a pretty savvy businessman. Now I guess I'll have to drop him a line or send him a letter or something. Dang.
Amanda moved out today, I think she was probably the most 'classic' roommate we've had here - she mostly kept to herself, was friendly but had her own separate social circle, had bad taste in music, etc. I've gotta say I never thought she'd be living in my house back when I was working at the Bistro and she was at the front desk all harassing us at 6 in the morning. She's off to teach English in Korea, now... I think I'll miss her regularly cleaning our kitchen the most.
Well, today was a bust. Stayed up late last night with Dan and Kristen, and my throat started feeling scratchy so I drank a mug of theraflu and slept all day. Then work calls and wakes me up, I'm already supposed to be there. Goddammit. I forgot to check my schedule yesterday while I was busy slacking off. So I go to work sick, leave feeling sicker, have some soup and call it a day. Maybe tomorrow I'll do something besides sleep or sit behind a counter.
ugh. Last night I stayed up late working on a project for that god-forsaken experimental drawing class, then after school I made a conscious effort to stay up and went out with Dan and Russ to go Goodwill hopping just for something to do. A little later, Russ gets a call from Jon, who had got a call from Mom, who had got a call from my uncle, who had got a call from my manager, saying I was scheduled to work today, where the hell am I? Apparently I had set my phone to 'silent' instead of 'vibrate' at school today and no one could get in touch with me. I could have sworn I didn't have to work today...
Anyway I drive us all back home, change clothes and go to work - no sleep, no supper. The night auditor shows up late (again) and I'm stuck there till 11:30. And for some reason I have work at 1:00 tomorrow instead of the usual 3:00, so I can't sleep in. Awesome, good thing I decided to stay up past 1AM despite being tired as all hell.
Been working every day since Tuesday... can't wait for my first 'real' paycheck in months, though I'll probably end up paying for gas and bills and crap before I actually see any of it myself. Today was my first day on my own (basically) at work, not too bad. There was a little shoving match in a high school graduation party we had going on and I had to call the cops in, but nothing really exciting happened. Working by myself was actually kind of fun, but tomorrow I'm bringing a book to read, waaay too much downtime today. Also, did you notice the timestamp for this post? Yeah, my sleep schedule is totally screwed up right now.
things to do:
go to the bank
groceries
homework
metal gear solid
now, in lieu of actual interesting blogging:
A THING FOR YOU TO WATCH
Boy, how long's it been since I posted?
Went home for a bit earlier this week, watched Jon play some jazz a couple times, hated on a lady for being dumb, looked for treasure with Jon and Mom, and got a haircut. Fun fun fun.
Came back yesterday and went to work. I feel like I'm starting to figure out my job now, it's starting to actually be fun now that I can, you know, do stuff. Before it was just a blur, but only because I was scheduled to train the same weekend that Tallahassee got swamped for all the college graduation ceremonies.
After work today I hung out at the BFA gallery with a bunch of the other BFA'ers for First Friday, turned out to be a pretty cool time. Had some hari krishna food, sat around in my work uniform, and my lips got really chapped. So yeah, cool except for my burning lips. ow.
Also, today I got paid for the first time since December, so that was nice. Nothing too get excited about, but it's fifty bucks I didn't have before. Now to start the long journey of paying back everyone I owe money to.
names that immediately spring to mind:
Russ - ???? at least 300 dollars
Aaron - 40 bucks (gas for miami trip)
Hailey - at least 20, I think
Kristen - the price equivalent of at least one beer
Have a couple side projects in the works that might earn me a bit more cash as well. I am ready to make good with all the folks I owe and go back to spending money on dumb stuff.
My uncle helped me out with my job search, apparently he has connections at a Holiday Inn nearby and put in a good word for me there. I went and put in an application and had a little interview with the manager today, he seems like a pretty cool guy and was sympathetic to my situation, even told me to call the corporate HR offices for Murphco and file a complaint about being wrongfully terminated. Anyway, if everything goes well, I might have a front desk job there within the next couple of weeks, I guess he'll be calling me.
Now in the meantime, I am going to be broke as all hell. I basically ran out of money today.

Cool thing: Rock Band Name Generator
Generates band name, album title, and album cover from certain parts of random searches on wikipedia, quotationspage, and flickr. What's interesting is that it actually comes up with cool stuff every now and then.

Just a couple short things, I'm tired:
Today was my last day at the attorney general's office. All in all, not a bad experience working there. Everybody was sad to see me go because I was so fast and got such good stats (protip: keyboard shortcuts for the win). The best terms I've ever left a job on, too. I'll miss it.
Fell in the shower yesterday when a roach popped out and scared the bejeezus out of me. I fell on my hip really hard, I'm surprised I'm not sore today.
I washed my car for the first time in like, a year, and installed new wipers and applied Rain-X to the windshield. My car actually looks nice again, and I've never had good wipers before... it's so awesome being able to see while I'm driving.
Time to catch up on chores and stuff now before school starts, Need to clean the house, we all spent about half an hour cleaning and taking out the garbage today and its still a mess in here. Laundry is a pain in the ass lately, the dryer is about half dead and keeps shutting off after a couple minutes so you have to sit there and watch it and check up on it or else it just turns off and your clothes just sit there. I've essentially spent an entire day doing one load of laundry today.
Still planning on getting my hair cut tommorow... dont' know what style yet though, so I'm a little apprehensive still.
